Printing with Style

A beautiful printing press, “compact” and equipped with two ink rollers, manufactured several decades ago in Frankfurt am Main. Even though the name sounds British.
Notice the sign: back then, the “Co” was still written with two upward strokes.

It is currently being inspected and cleaned in our workshop. The rollers, which are missing here, will soon be replaced with brand-new ones.

You will receive “your” W. Harth & Co. with a basic set of filling material and closing tools.

We picked up this big brother of the smaller HOBO (link here) from a garage. One very important reason for the 220-kilogram press is that it still looks good.
And it’s just wonderful to work with. We cleaned it, gave it three new ink rollers, tested it and printed with it. But see for yourself:

A truly beautiful GOLDEN PIECE

The Kahle Boston platen press was manufactured at the turn of the century (1900).
We have carefully taken it apart, cleaned it thoroughly and, where necessary, repainted it.

This gem has two outstanding features:
It performs the finest detailed letterpress work and looks really good doing it.

The manufacturer of this outstanding hand-operated letterpress is
Emil Kahle Maschinenfabrik Leipzig-Paulsdorf.

About 1900 this Kahle Boston Platen was produced. Its last printjob was a wedding invation fron 1972. We have carefully taken it apart, gently cleaned it and given it a fresh coat of varnish where necessary. This piece of jewellery have two outstanding features:
Performing the finest platen work and looking really good while doing so.

Found in a garage, this wonderful piece of printing history is given a new lease of life. Painstakingly taken apart into its component parts, carefully cleaned and freshly varnished – it now stands in our workshop almost as if it had come out of a shop window.
